Si habéis estado atentos a la actualidad tecnológica de esta semana, sabréis que se ha celebrado la feria Computex, que es el CeBIT oriental que cada año se celebra en Taipei y que ha tenido como protagonistas absolutos a los ultraportátiles de bajo coste, que ya parecen tener nombre definitivo: netbooks. Parece que el nombrecito de marras se lo han inventado en Intel, que aprovechó su presencia en la feria para presentar los esperados Intel Atom y que según su propia nota de prensa estaban destinados a este tipo de máquinas.
Ese lanzamiento tiene mucha relevancia. Primero, porque demuestra que un nuevo segmento se abre paso claramente en la informática. Y segundo, porque Intel no está sola en el camino. VIA ha presentado ya sus impresionantes VIA Nano (nombre código Isaiah) y se espera que AMD haga algún anuncio oficial.
Si a ese interés de los principales fabricantes de microprocesadores le unimos el hecho de que la industria se ha volcado a lo bestia con estos netbooks. Vamos a intentar recapitular entre los principales que ya están con nosotros y que saldrán en los próximos meses:
1. ASUS Eee PC 701, Eee PC 900, Eee PC 901, Eee PC 1000, Eee PC 1000(H).
2. Acer Aspire One
3. MSI Wind
4. Everex CloudBook, CloudBook MAX
5. HP 2133 Mininote
6. Dell Inspiron Mini
7. Gigabyte M912
Aparte de ellos, hay un puñado de modelos más que yo calificaría como “clase C” (¡pipi!) porque tanto por prestaciones como por presencia en nuestro país y el resto del mundo no creo que signifiquen gran cosa. Máquinas como el Elonex One, el VIA Openbook (bueno, puede que este pegue) o el E-Lead Noahpad creo que tendrán una repercusión mínima comparada con esos 7 modelos, de los que yo de hecho ya iría eliminando a Everex (que no creo que pueda competir con la magnitud de sus rivales) y a los Eee PC 701 y Eee PC 900 que ya no tienen sentido tal y como están las cosas.
